A hectopascal (hPa) is a unit of atmospheric pressure used commonly in meteorology. It is equivalent to one millibar (mb) or 100 pascals (Pa). The standard atmospheric pressure at sea level is approximately 1013 hPa. Changes in atmospheric pressure can provide important information about weather patterns and can be used to forecast changes in weather conditions. Hectopascals are also used in aviation to calculate altitude and air pressure inside aircraft cabins.
